Description
The Behavior Support Specialist will assist in data collection and assessment for behavior support services; assist in developing, implementing, and training staff in the use of positive behavior support and intervention techniques. This is a promotional/open opportunity open to interested candidates.This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List for the current Behavior Support Specialist vacancy as well as any future vacancies.

- Positions are typically 32.5 - 35 hours per week and work 10 months.
The Behavior Support Specialist will be paid on the Paraeducator Employees' Salary Schedule. Salary grade 038. To view the salary schedule, Click Here.
This is a promotional/open opportunity, which means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.- For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2, Section 9).

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to completion of college-level courses in psychology, special education, or related field, and three (3) years of related experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation (mileage expense allowance provided). Personality and character traits suited to providing services for students with serious behavior challenges. Some positions may require proficiency in a foreign language and/or sign language.
