Summary:

The PE2 Maintenance Technician 5 is responsible for performing both reactive and preventative maintenance on production equipment, ensuring the integrity of machinery to support efficient operations. This role involves troubleshooting complex equipment issues, driving improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, mentoring junior technicians, and participating in projects aimed at continuous improvement.

The technician will actively contribute to maintaining equipment reliability and will have a hands-on role in training, process optimization, and minimizing production disruptions. This position also requires a commitment to following departmental procedures and ensuring high standards of machine performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with production equipment independently, identifying training opportunities for less experienced technicians.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Document work activities in the Maximo reporting software for accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Assist senior technicians with project work and support less experienced technicians in developing new skills and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Sign out materials on work orders effectively and ensure that required parts are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Attend all training sessions, both on-site and off-site, to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
  • Maintain the PE2 maintenance area, ensuring that 2S and 3D standards are adhered to.
  • Request quotes and submit parts orders as needed to support ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Initiate deviations and manage them effectively to avoid disruptions in production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, focusing on downtime reduction and reject reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on special projects to improve machine efficiency and operational processes.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve problems with minimal supervision, ensuring machine reliability.
  • Organize and lead teams in continuous improvement projects, driving down time and improving equipment efficiency.
  • Serve as a liaison between the maintenance department and other internal departments to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Manage downtime and implement corrective actions based on maintenance reports to meet downtime targets.
  • Communicate effectively with external vendors and contractors to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Support manufacturing operations by identifying and addressing issues that impact machine performance.
  • Train and mentor less senior technicians in the maintenance and repair of equipment.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance.
  • Skilled trade training in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems related to molding equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, with knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics being a plus.
  • Familiarity with interpreting prints and schematics.
  • Previous experience with PLC ladder logic programming is a plus.

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical trade school or equivalent experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent use of a variety of hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to bend for up to 2 hours per day.

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment for 1 hour per day.
  • Manufacturing environment for 7 hours per day.
  • Overnight travel may be required for training purposes.
  • Overtime may be required on an unscheduled basis to meet deadlines and internal requirements.
