Job Overview::
As a result of our company's growth, we are currently seeking a Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities & Duties::
- Assist with the design of medium to high voltage AC and DC OH/UG transmission lines, including circuit rating calculations and cable system construction methods specifications
- Assist with the development of the cable system routing including considerations for trenched and trenchless crossings, splice vaults spacing and layout and substation interconnections
- Work with designers to develop drawing packages to support the design including route plan and profiles, trench cross sections, duct bank designs, and construction details
- Assist with studies and providing constructability reviews
- Assist with the preparation of project capital and expense estimates
- Perform calculations and prepare technical reports
- Support the documentation of newly constructed Transmission Line facilities
- Assist with the management of project correspondence, RFIs coordination and file management
- Work with an interdisciplinary project team including member from construction, design, civil, and electrical groups
Qualifications & Skills::
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within substation or transmission.
- Perform engineering responsibilities without assistance and minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives.
- Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving
- Candidate must be able to report to the Oakbroak office daily
