Installation Field Engineer
Overview:
Bowhead is seeking an Installation Field Engineer to be responsible for ensuring the installation of equipment, IAW an approved Engineering Design Plan, project closeout inspections, providing system training, and obtaining closeout signoff by an authorized government representative at various government facilities for our Army customer.
The Installation Field Engineer will be tasked to communicate with on-site representatives, relaying vital information to the Program/Project Mangers for dissemination to stakeholders within the program. You may be tasked with assuming a Lead Installation team member role, situationally dependent, and providing training to more junior installation team members.
The Installation Field Engineer will develop, interpret and implement Site Surveys, utility plans, perform system/facilities evaluations, and oversee the installation of associated equipment. The Installation Field Engineer will have strong knowledge of structural code requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.
- Develop facility and equipment specifications.
- Directs the implementation of facility expansion, layout, installation of various systems, and quality controls.
- Evaluates operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
- Develops installation plans and optimizing resource allocation.
- Review as-built design documents prior to submission to Engineering team for incorporation.
- Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
- Coordinating, overseeing and accomplishing installation of required equipment, cables, computer systems and associated facilities activities.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
- Preparing reports and compliance documentation.
- Supervises and installs indoor fiber optic cable, computers systems, and equipment in large military structures
- Run, terminate, and test low voltage copper cable
- Organizing, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
- Determine solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the Ethernet or fiber optic systems from performing optimally
- Provide support and direction to technician helpers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred or additional experience in lieu of degree.
- Must be able to travel 70-80 percent of the time. Telecommute during none travel times
- At least 3 years of experience as an Audio-Visual Installation technician or in a similar role.
- Experience with AutoCAD, VISIO and MS Office preferred.
- Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Project management skills.
- Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Currently there is no security clearance requirement. The successful candidate must successfully pass a T1 investigation. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
Physical Demands:- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
