This role will develop and manage the overall strategy and infrastructure of utilization for the APP workforce across the HMH network and diverse sites of service to ensure clinical competency and top of license practice. Serves as a clinical expert and administrative leader responsible for enhancing and advancing the role of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.The Vice President, Advanced Practice Provider serves as an expert resource and creates an environment that promotes excellent clinical care and professional development for all advanced practice staff.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Vice President, Advanced Practice Provider at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive APP strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
- Leading and managing a team of APP directors and managers, providing them with the support and resources they need to be successful.
- Overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention of APPs, ensuring that HMH has a highly qualified and engaged workforce.
- Collaborating with other senior leaders across the organization to ensure that APPs are integrated into all aspects of patient care.
- Establishing and overseeing an APP Council throughout the network, providing a forum for APPs to share best practices, collaborate on projects, and advocate for their profession.
- Leading the education and advancement of the APP profession within the organization, ensuring that APPs have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and advance their careers.
- Ensuring that all APP staff are performing to the top of their license, providing them with the support and resources they need to be successful.
- Optimizing compliant revenue capture for APP services, ensuring that the organization is maximizing reimbursement for the services provided by APPs.
- Remaining updated on the latest industry trends and best practices in APP management and care delivery is essential for providing informed recommendations for implementation.
- Advocating for APPs within the organization and the broader healthcare community.
- Functions as the primary resource /liaison with affiliated NP and PA programs.
- Establish consistent job descriptions and roles and responsibilities of NP/PA leads/managers in collaboration with physician and nursing leadership
- Develop harmonized APP orientation, onboarding, ongoing yearly education, and professional practice development
- Participate in the development of an APP compensation strategy
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Master's degree in nursing, physician assistant studies or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within healthcare, with at least 5 years of experience in APP management.
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare industry and the role of APPs in patient care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) or applicable Doctorate for Physician Assistants (e.g., DMSc, PhD, DHA, PharmD, etc.)
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
- Physician Assistant License
- Maintains certification as APN in New Jersey
- Active PA board certification through the National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA)
