SURGICAL TECH – SURGERYNorthridge Hospital Medical Center
The Surgical Tech will assist in the care and preparation of the surgical patient in accordance with individual needs physician orders hospital policy and standards of patient care. The Surgical Tech must be able to scrub all cases.

Responsibilities:
Adheres to established Hospital/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and ImprovementProgram, Infection Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environment control standards and Patient's Bill
of Rights.
Identifies and prepares appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment based on identified surgical procedures.
Maintains and monitors aseptic technique.
Assists the surgical team during operating procedures as appropriate.
Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs.
Provides comfort and support for operative patients. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's care and privacy.
Demonstrates understanding of organizational structure and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
Demonstrates a positive cooperative manner when dealing with all members of the health care team.
Demonstrates an understanding of the approaches to and methods of Continuous Quality Improvement.
Serves as a preceptor and role model for new Surgical Technicians and students.
Collaborates with licensed staff to identify own career and educational needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- Minimum (1) year of operating room experience in an acute care setting required.
- Successful completion of an accredited/approved Surgical Technician program and/or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current AHA BLS card required.
- Current Fire Safety card required.
