Summary
The ideal candidate should have a thorough working knowledge of food service or hospitality preferred, particularly in a fine dining or hotel environment. Prior experience as a server in volume operations, where they have also experienced detailed steps of service & food and beverage knowledge is preferred.
Essential Functions
Job duties include, although are not limited to:
- Checks station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
- Deliver food and beverage orders to guest rooms promptly, ensuring a high level of service and guest satisfaction.
- Confirm order details and ensure that all items are prepared and presented according to the hotel’s standards.
- Set up dining trays and tables in guest rooms with attention to detail, ensuring a visually appealing presentation.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the in-room dining menu, daily specials, and wine pairings to make recommendations to guests.
- Retrieves order from kitchen, confirms its accuracy, and deliver to guests along with appropriate condiments
- Follow proper allergy procedures according to hotel standards.
- Abides by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Checks with guests for overall satisfaction during the process of serving and when retrieving the tray/trolley.
- Anticipate guest needs and proactively offer additional items or assistance.
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and efficiency.
- Ascertains guest satisfaction and presents check. Processes check per hotel procedures.
- Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Helps in clearing and resetting the tables following the In Room Dining standards.
- Performs all assigned side work. May include replenishing condiments, restocking, polishing, reorganizing workstations, etc.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as answering telephones and taking room service orders, and handling special guest requests according to The Boca Raton guidelines.
- Attends required meetings.
- Adheres to all company standards related to members, guests, and associates experience
- Follows all safety standards
Reports to General Manager.
Relations with housekeeping, front desk personnel and kitchen staff.
External Relationships
Has regular contact with resort guests.
Qualifications- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail pairings.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Prefer six (6) months to one-year previous serving experience. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
- Must obtain any government required licenses or certificates. Examples include a Washington Health Card Permit; Oregon Liquor Service Permit; Alcohol Service Permit. CPR certification and/or 1st Aid Training preferred.
Grooming/Uniform
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained as a part of the orientation process.
Physical Requirements
Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
