Donations Driver EC
Overview:
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Serving under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Driver will be heavily involved in donation pickups and transportation of persons for seasonal operations. The Driver will also work with the Social Services & Volunteer Coordinator to achieve assigned goals.
The ideal candidate should be able to work independently while remaining teachable.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Attend and contribute to all Department Head, General Staff & Ministry Team Meetings.
- To assist with the organization of fundraisers, as necessary
- To provide a suitable atmosphere throughout the Corps, that is in line with Army standards and encourages moderation in behavior, language, etc.
- To bring to the attention of the Corps Officers any problems and or/needs of the Corps
- To facilitate, in every way possible, the mission of The Salvation Army, at the direction of the Corps Officers.
- Driving of 12 passenger van and/or box truck is required for donation pickups
- Pick-up food and/or merchandise from local stores and organizations
- Responsible to load and unload donations, ensuring that they are securely packed and covered
- Clean out Salvation Army van and/or truck at the end of each day
- Help with unloading delivery trucks upon returning to the facility. After packing away delivered items in pantry and storage area, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.
- Responsible to chart mileage when using any Salvation Army vehicles
- Routine vehicle maintenance including cleaning (interior & exterior), fluid checks, etc.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with transporting persons during seasonal activities (Camp NEOSA, Kettles), when necessary
- Involvement with Emergency Disaster Service work, as needed
- Assist Corps Officers with all Community & Public Relations Events, as needed
- Assist with food deliveries when on-site, as requested by the Director of Operations and/or Social Services Coordinator
- Any other duties as shall be required by the Supervisor or Administration
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years of related experience
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, that should be maintained throughout employment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to operate pallet-jack equipment & lift-gates, as necessary
- Must possess strong organization skills and be detail oriented.
- Must possess a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
- Must be able to relate well to all people and be a team player.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
