Logistics Associate Manager

SUMMARY:

The Logistics Associate Manager’s responsibility is to support the immediate needs of the Waco paperboard manufacturing facility through the supervision of the crews in the Shipping and Receiving area, while maintaining a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation to achieve maximum quality production to include area responsibility for all roll handling equipment, wrapping and finishing operations, warehousing, inventory management, loading / shipping (rail and truck) and training of the department.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting safety meetings and training, observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions, and proactively supporting department and facility leadership in the continuous improvement of safety systems.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the crews in the department.
  • Provide support to the Logistics Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution on maintenance and reliability improvement efforts in the logistics department.
  • Provide annual and routine outage support.
  • Drive area continuous improvements initiatives from conception through implementation, to improve area efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
  • Provide proactive support to foster and improve operator engagement and morale within the department.
  • Provide backup coverage, for the Logistics Manager.
  • Support employee development by assisting in training, certification, hiring, and employee evaluations / one-on-ones for direct reports.
  • Effective communication with department and facility leadership, operators, and facility liaisons.
  • Responsible for meeting exceeding department / facility production and quality goals.
  • Audit work systems to ensure consistent operation (rounds, logs, check sheets, inspection procedures, TCCs, etc.)
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-5 yrs. Logistics/shipping in manufacturing, warehouse operations, converting, logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 yrs. supervisory experience preferred.
  • SAP experience
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
  • Associates or BA/ BS in Business Management, or related field of study is preferred.
