Department Overview:

The OHSU Division of Hospital Medicine’s mission is “To serve, connect, and educate in order to heal, comfort, and empower” and we are seeking others who share these values to join our team. Clinical duties will primarily consist of operating as part of an inpatient medicine care team, and includes admitting, managing, and discharging patients, performing medical consultation, and engaging in co- management with other specialties.

Function/Duties of Position:

Clinical duties will be to admit and manage patients, provide clinical cross-cover for patients on the Clinical Hospitalist Service, perform medical consultations, and sign-out to the day team in the morning. On an infrequent basis, you may be called to assist in the performance of resident procedures during the night.

This position is part of a program committed to the provision of compassionate and exceptional patient oriented care. Thus, the faculty member will represent this objective in interactions with patients, consultants, or other individuals involved in the care process.

This program also covers its own clinical activities, such that each member will be part of an internal ‘back-up’ system in case of illness or absence. In addition to your clinical duties, you will participate in relevant efforts to control hospital costs, quality review, length-of-stay, re-admission, efficiency analysis, and process improvement.

The reduction of this time commitment is desirable in the future, and is negotiable for subsequent years, dependent on the identification of alternative means of scholarly, education, or service funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD degree (or equivalent) and ABIM certification (or eligibility) is required
  • Board certification or board eligibility is required
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational excellence in clinical setting is required

We are proud of our commitment to being an equal opportunity, affirmative action organization that does not discriminate against applicants on the basis of any protected class status, including disability status and protected veteran status.

Individuals with diverse backgrounds and those who promote diversity and a culture of inclusion are encouraged to apply. To request reasonable accommodation contact the Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Department at 503-494-5148 or aaeo@ohsu.edu.
