Short Description
Assists with day to-day supervision of the Infection Prevention department and program. Has significant prior experience in both infection prevention/control and a related field (e.g. nursing, microbiology, epidemiology).
Demonstrates competence in CDC NHSN Hospital acquired infection surveillance and Reporting requirements. Carries out collection, analysis, & reporting of data on infections.
Serves as a knowledgeable source of TJC, OSHA and CDC recommendations for infection prevention.
Will provide routine education and orientation to associates regarding topics associated with infection prevention as requested to support the hospital-based infection prevention management team and to keep training and education.
Materials current. Provides consultation regarding infection control matters. Demonstrates competence in sterilization and high-level Disinfection procedures. Inspects inpatient areas as well as outpatient offices/clinics/facilities associated with Cooper for regulatory standards in infection prevention and related employee safety with the Participation in tracer activity as assigned.Reports all findings to the appropriate responsible entity.
Works closely with the Director/Hospital Epidemiologist/Infection Prevention Committee to assist with the development of all infection prevention activities. Investigates clusters/outbreaks/increased rates of infections. Investigates potential exposures to communicable diseases and communicates to all with a need to know.Reports designated diseases/data to NJDOH or other State agencies as required.

Experience Required
2 years in an acute care hospital and One year in Infection Prevention
Education Requirements
BSN (RN) , Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Bachelor’s in a healthcare related field. (Advanced degree preferred, ie MPH, MD, NP, etc.)
License/Certification Requirements
Certified in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) required
