Legal Operations Manager

A leading legal department is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Professional to support its operational functions. The ideal candidate will have broad legal operations experience, including legal technology implementation, project management, outside counsel management, and process improvement.

This role will drive efficiency in the department’s workflows and ensure that legal operations align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and administration of legal technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration and adoption.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel, including monitoring legal spend and ensuring compliance with billing guidelines through electronic invoicing systems.
  • Lead legal projects from inception through completion, ensuring milestones are met and deliverables are on time and within budget.
  • Administer legal systems and databases, including contract management and document management platforms.
  • Develop and refine processes for legal workflows, driving automation and efficiencies to reduce manual efforts.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and business stakeholders to streamline processes and ensure alignment with corporate strategies.
  • Monitor legal department budgets and forecasts, providing regular reports and insights on operational metrics and expenditures.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, leveraging best practices to enhance legal operations and service delivery.
  • Support legal operations by overseeing the management of contracts, vendor relationships, and legal support systems.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations or a related role within a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Knowledge of legal operations best practices, including process development, legal technology optimization, and project management frameworks.
  • Experience working with senior legal leadership to align operational goals with departmental strategies.
  • Proven experience in legal operations, with a focus on technology implementation, project management, and legal systems administration.
  • Expertise in managing outside counsel and legal spend through billing systems.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results.
  • Experience developing and implementing process improvements, legal workflows, and automation solutions.
  • Proficiency in legal technology tools, including contract management and billing systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in a legal setting is a plus.
