Production Operator

All About You:

This position is for current, temporary employees only. This fast paced position engages in building multi-cell and single cell batteries by performing all assembly operations within the production department, including Battery Assembly, Cell Finishing, & MNo2 Traditional etc.

Initially these positions will start in Battery Assembly but must be willing to learn and to move into other departments, as needed. All tasks must be performed while supporting the policies and procedures of the Company. This position reports directly to the Team Leader of the assigned unit.

Requirements:

  • Employee shall participate in maintaining "6-S" in all areas of the facility, including sweeping, cleaning, organizing, and other related tasks.
  • Employee will be expected to perform any other assignments and duties as assigned.
  • Work is performed in normal manufacturing environment.
  • Possible exposure to heat, epoxy, hot melt or glue fumes depending on operation being performed.
  • Possible exposure to minor cuts and burns. Possible exposure to SO2, MNO2 from venting cells; levels normally very low.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee may possibly be required to transport cells to warehouse from factory and will be transporting cells and or other items outside and may possibly be exposed to inclement weather conditions.
  • The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
  • Certification on Jobs in assigned work area.
  • Mental/visual effort required in performing assemblies of batteries requiring close attention to detail.
  • Maintain 6S in assigned work area.
  • Assemble components into cell and/or battery pack.
  • Intercellular welding, insuring good weld nuggets and proper position of cells in relation to each other.
  • Attaching a harness assembly through either tab to cell or tab to tab welds. Insure proper weld nuggets and alignment.
  • Filling top shells with either hot melt or epoxy. Must be able to operate hot melt or epoxy dispensing equipment using foot pedals. and/or dual hand controls.Must dispense proper shot size and ratio of components.
  • Ultrasonic weld converts to battery cases by depressing foot pedal(s).
  • Package cells together with either hot melt or shrink material.
  • Gage and test batteries as required. Peform testing per specifications.
  • Package approved battery in specified packaging material.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to learn to operate a wider variety of equipment.
  • Must be able to see and differentiate colors and be able to pass a color blindness test.
  • The employee must regularly lift trays of cells/batteries and be able to sit or stand up to 50% of work time depending upon particular operation.
  • Must be capable of a moderate degree of visual acuteness when working with precision equipment requiring close tolerances.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, goggles, splash shield, chemical suits, and other protective clothing as warranted by the work situation.
  • Must possess the ability to write and key in data from production builds into the computer system.
  • High school education or GED required. Vocational education exposure preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
  • Manufacturing Experience is highly desired.
  • Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift and to work overtime on weekdays as well as Saturdays and Sundays if required.
  • Two to four weeks on the job training necessary to become familiar with job procedures and achieve certification for each job.
  • Able to consistantly met established production numbers daily.
  • Ability to use small hand tools to assemble component parts.
  • Must be able to use assembly equipment to produce products the meet customer's requirements.
