Overview:
Provide evidence based assessment and treatment of a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary dysfunction to the organization’s patient population. A degree in Physical Therapy from a university program certified by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is required, as well as, a current Florida licenses and CPR certification.Professionals are required to maintain formal and informal continuing education relevant to the acute care population and carry out all duties with empathy and compassion towards patients, families, caregivers and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluation, reassessment, treatment and education are developed based on patients age specific needs particularly in the areas of body system function, musculoskeletal function, muscle strengthening and flexibility, improve endurance, pain management, and overall performance of functional activities, psychological function, nutritional status, and educational needs.
- Reassesses the rehabilitation needs of each patient. Establishes realistic problem list and attainable goals appropriate to the setting. Makes necessary revisions to the plan of care, adjusting problems and goals as indicated.
- Ongoing treatment of patient is focused on relieving pain, developing and/or restoring function and maintaining maximum performance utilizing appropriate physical therapy procedures and testing
- Educates and documents in the patient record instructions given to: patient, caregiver, family member or other healthcare personnel. Instructions prepare patient and family to follow through with treatment programs at the next care setting. Completes all documentation and patient care with accuracy and efficiency and within rehab guidelines.
- Meets the productivity standards that have been set by management.
- Delegate appropriate patient care/treatment task to the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) as define by the Florida Practice Laws and utilize the restorative tech efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications:
Education / Training- Bachelor's Degree Physical Therapy Program (CAPTE certified)
Preferences:
Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to and communicate with primarily adult and geriatric population and to a lesser degree pediatric. Excellent communication skills; team player. Ability to customize treatment plan for each patient based on their medical, physical and age related needs.Provide excellent customer service.
Experience Requirements- 1-year Physical Therapy experience
- Physical Therapy License in the state of Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Post-Employment:
BLS, provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.
