Responsibilities:

The Regional Laboratory Director is responsible for enhancing hospital Laboratory operations through interdisciplinary collaboration and site-level oversight. Coordinates with the Vice President of Laboratory Services and the Corporate Medical Director Laboratory Services in the development and implementation of standard Laboratory activities and guidance’s.
Responsible for the implementation and oversight of Laboratory services, strategies, achieving benchmarks, and maintaining satisfactory outcomes to the business plans and financial goals of the organization. Scope of work includes but is not limited to regulatory compliance, medication safety, inventory and medication management optimization, personnel management, and clinical and operational strategy.
The Regional Laboratory Director reports to the VP of Laboratory Operations and collaborates with local hospital leadership. Additionally, the Regional Laboratory Director will provide leadership guidance to a team of licensed Laboratory Directors/Managers, Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, phlebotomists, and other laboratory staff.
Communication with other department directors, physicians, and visitors will be important for maintaining high patient-satisfaction and ensuring daily operations run smoothly. Ability to lead teams and initiatives that will help overall system operations – developing train programs, reviewing, and preparing budget status reports, and assisting the VP of Laboratory Operations with local laboratory performance improvement standards.
Assists with overseeing, supervising, and administrating all corporate and local laboratory activities, in accordance with established hospital and department policies and standards. Ensure laboratory compliance with all criteria mandated by appropriate accrediting and licensing agencies.

Leads standardization initiatives of policies and procedures, forms, equipment and supplies throughout the system. Meet with and evaluate vendors for equipment and supplies. Participates in special projects and other assignments with other corporate officers.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  1. Valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license and/or American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Bioanalysts (ABB), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (National Accrediting Agency) [CLS (NCA)] or equivalent certification.
  2. Minimum 5 years laboratory director experience
  3. Project Management experience required
  4. Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Regional or corporate lab director experience preferred
  2. Master’s Degree in Medical Technology, Healthcare administration, MSM, MBA or PhD in laboratory technical discipline.
  3. Experience with Document Control tools (Media Lab) and the implementation of system wide policies
  4. Enterprise level Lab Quality System and KPI development and management.
  5. LEAN belt certification preferred
  6. Development and dissemination of analytic tools for monitoring quality, clinical, and business performance.
