The Women's Rights Information Center is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team dedicated to advocating for women's rights and providing vital legal support to our clients. In this role, you will assist our legal team in ensuring that women facing legal challenges receive the assistance and representation they need.
As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting documents, maintaining case files, and coordinating communication between clients and legal professionals. Your organizational skills will be crucial in managing deadlines and preparing for hearings and trials.
You will play an essential role in empowering our clients by facilitating their understanding of their rights and the legal processes involved. This position demands a strong commitment to social justice, an understanding of the unique legal issues faced by women, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for court cases and administrative hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Maintain organized case files and manage documentation throughout the litigation process.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and update them on case progress.
  • Coordinate schedules and appointments for attorneys and clients.
  • Assist in the development of outreach materials and community presentations.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or Paralegal certification preferred; Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role within a legal firm or organization.
  • Knowledge of family law, domestic violence issues, and women's rights legal matters is highly desirable.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and office software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Salary: $83,000-$97,000 per year
