The Mental Health Monitoring Technician is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and notifying the appropriate persons of any suspicious, dangerous, unusual behaviors, and situations. The Mental Health Monitoring Technician will also be responsible for calling emergency codes and directly monitoring patients on units.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining professional development and practice, any certification or credentialing, and education, as required.
- Follows processes for placing patients on video monitoring per doctor’s orders.
- Observes monitors continuously for behaviors indicated based on ordering MD’s precautions when monitoring behaviors remotely (versus in person)
- Reports behaviors to nurse on unit for immediate interventions
- Initiates calls to units each shift to obtain locations of patients being monitored and behaviors for which patients are being monitored.
- Notifies Nurse, Risk department, House Manager and/or Manager as appropriate when safety and quality concerns are present.
- Attends in-service educations/Healthstream modules to update skills and knowledge.
- Documents calls to units, emergency codes paged overhead and seclusion/restraints events.
Qualifications:
Education:- High school diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
- Two (2) years of social services experience (required), with one (1) year in mental health direct patient care (preferred)
- Prevent First Module plus observe NVCI‐APS & Seclusion/Restraint (required)
