Stefanini Group is hiring a Community Outreach Coordinator for a key client of ours in the utilities (electric and natural gas) industry. This position will be based in South Plainfield, New Jersey but will will involve frequent field work throughout central and northern New Jersey.
The Community Outreach Coordinator works closely with various project teams in support of capital projects associated with construction projects in the utilities & power industry in order to develop and implement communications and outreach strategies that support the strategic objectives of these organizations.
The focus of this position will be to initiate, develop and execute proactive outreach to communicate impacted neighborhoods of upcoming utility and power construction work involving electric and gas lines. You will be responsible for translating construction project timelines to impacted residential and business areas.
This could at any time involve a mix of direct email campaigns, mailings, telephone, and frequent outreach through neighborhood meetings, town councils, school boards, etc.
Responsibilities:
-Support Regional Public Affairs Managers (RPAs) in monitoring local policy proposals, such as ordinances.-Developing communication materials
-Coordinate and execute broadcast emails and phone calls to customers by geographic areas regarding upcoming construction, emergency notices, etc.-Field work to scope out upcoming construction areas and take note of special circumstances for communication needs along routes (schools, affected bus routes, businesses parks, fire stations and hospitals, etc.)-Primary audiences include key business leaders, policy makers and influential members of the community in addition to local, county and state elected officials.

- Sometimes represent the company at local town hall, zoning board, and planning board meetings, etc.
- Make recommendations to include in the development of mitigation plans to ensure the project's success.
