Responsibilities:
- Perform primarily milling operations on state-or-the art Computer Numerical Controlled high speed milling machines, to include set up and operation of milling machine.
- Fabricate parts and complete items of equipment from raw stock of different kinds of metals and metal alloys and other materials, and performs machining work required in the fabrication of castings, forgings, weldments and other fabrications.
- Carries out assignments which require special adaption and extensions of the use of conventional machine tools and the use of specialized and nonconventional machine tools such as jig borers, jig grinders, hobbing machines, hob grinders, gear generators, computer numerically controlled (CNC) and numerically controlled (NC) machine tools.
- Independently plans and lays out work, sets up and operates machine tools, and performs bench and assembly work.
- Exhibits safe work practices in all areas and with all equipment.
- Exceeds or meets all established time standards and production schedules
- Properly corrects any deficiencies from same. Informs shop leads, or supervisor in a timely manner of any impedance to assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Be a US citizen that is able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
- Have a valid state DOT driver's license.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
- There is a danger to skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal; possible skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds, and danger to the fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces and moving parts of machines.
- Appropriate safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, safety goggles and other safety apparel and equipment as required.
- Be able to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds. However, hoists, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items.
- Requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.
