Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to Californias most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes.

We implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans services, and health care sectors.

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting/Finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts payable, data entry, and problem-solving.

The Staff Accountants responsibilities will be processing high-volume vendor payments. This includes reviewing bills to ensure they are correctly coded to the appropriate programs and accounts, verifying that necessary supporting documentation is included, and resolving any discrepancies.
Additionally, they will process payments to vendors on a daily or weekly basis, depending on business needs. They will report to the Accounting Supervisor and work closely with fellow accountants while maintaining strong relationships with BC personnel.

A key aspect of this position is ensuring timely financial obligations by thoroughly reviewing payments and approvals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, ensuring invoices are properly approved, correctly calculated, and match printed checks
  • Respond to vendor inquiries promptly, maintaining a positive and collaborative approach
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies
  • Set up new vendors and maintain accurate vendor files, including obtaining W-9 documents
  • Investigate and resolve account discrepancies by working with internal departments, vendors, and customers
  • Process daily check runs, and urgent checks as needed
  • Handle Monthly Rent Roll processing
  • Drive to drop off checks at USPS daily and at FedEx bi-monthly with team
  • Post month-end accruals and perform bank reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end audit preparations
  • Assist with 1099 preparation
  • Verify daily Salesforce data
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor

Requirements

Professional Experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP requirements
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • High degree of discretion and sound judgment
  • Knowledge of funding agency relations, compliance requirements, and donor expectations related to gift stewardship
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with strict adherence to confidentiality
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and databases
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance is a plus
  • Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting Software is preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical publications, government contracts, leases, regulatory documents, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, boards of directors, and public groups.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, and area. Ability to apply basic math and geometry concepts to practical situations. Facility with Microsoft Excel and ability to use a financial calculator.
  • Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, and written form and to deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration

A valid, clean CA drivers license and a personal insured vehicle preferred.

Physical Requirements

Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day.

Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation.

Salary range for this position is $24.04 - $35.00 hourly. This position is being offered at $28 - $30 hourly.
