Overview:

CAES Mission Systems, Lancaster, PA is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a building, building complex, or other similar facility tasks as well as any related equipment, property, machinery, or systems that may be a part of that facility.

This position will coordinate outside contractors and vendors for various services under the direction of the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as the primary contact for all personnel for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs)
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations.
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • May act as the project coordinator for all size projects including large scale repair and new facility construction projects
  • Assists with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis
  • Solicits bids and quotes from vendors and tracks invoices to ensure timely payment
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Transports goods or equipment as assigned
  • Escorts service contractors to necessary locations for equipment service.
  • Performs immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain clean facility
  • Maintains sidewalks clear of snow and ice
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager

Qualifications:

HOW TO SUCCEED

Minimum:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 Years' relevant experience
  • Must have basic understanding of facilities maintenance
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in relevant field
  • 4 Years' relevant experience
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors
  • Strong Organizational skills and ability to provide deliverables in support of project plans
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders, bend, stoop, push pull and lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a routine basis.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 30 feet
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules
  • Exposed to a conbination of normal office type environments and shop environments
  • Must be able to work outside in hot and cold conditions.
