Located in Wilmington, VT, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service for 84+ years in a friendly and professional environment. As we look to the future, we are seeking a dedicated Service Manager to take on a key role in our shop and contribute to the success of a trusted auto repair business.

Overview: The Service Manager will oversee the daily operations of our customer service desk and our service department. This role will focus on ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining smooth operations within our shop. While experience in auto repair is not required, a strong background in business management and excellent customer service skills are essential.

This is a full-time position with hours from Tuesday to Friday, 7 AM – 5:30 PM.

The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys being in a customer-facing role, is organized and works well in a fast-paced environment. We are open to candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those with retail management or restaurant service experience.

You must be able to relate to customers, keep things flowing smoothly, and lead a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all activities within the service department to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations, addressing complaints and concerns promptly, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Prepare service estimates, manage customer accounts and ensure accurate record-keeping for all customer transactions, service estimates, invoicing, and payments.
  • Manage shop schedules, ensure work is prioritized and completed on time, and ensure the team adheres to safety and operational standards.
  • Direct and monitor shop cleanliness, appearance, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with vendor relations, inventory management, and ordering supplies when necessary.
  • Handle administrative duties such as answering calls, managing service appointments, and maintaining operational records.
  • Provide superior customer service by building and maintaining strong relationships, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the customer service industry (auto repair experience is not required but would be a plus).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing small teams and fostering positive customer experiences.
  • Proficient with computer systems (Mitchell) and basic office software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and independent thinker who can manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
