Software Engineering Manager
Overview:
About the Role
As the Engineering Manager for Exercise Therapy Experience, you will support 1 team of engineers (~10 software engineers and 2 quality engineers). Your fullstack team will be responsible for the user experience of Exercise Therapy in our mobile application, which is the core experience for our users.
You’ll have the opportunity to hire, coach, and accelerate individual growth. You’ll guide your team toward the right metrics and feedback loops to empower its continuous improvement. Your strong technical background will inform your intuitions and Socratic questions throughout the Agile workflow.You will be deeply involved in the code and giving technical feedback to technical design docs and code review, but you will not be a direct code contributor to mission critical work.
To make sure there’s always just-enough valuable, shovel-ready work, you will work closely with stakeholders to prioritize the team backlog and establish goals for each sprint. To support their team’s continuous improvement, you will measure what matters most and lead blameless retros that convert insights into action.
What You'll Accomplish- Develop and execute a robust, effective roadmap for engineering full stack solutions for a streamlined user experience across multiple surfaces and technologies
- Hire, coach and mentor engineers through day-to-day challenges and guide them towards long term professional and technical growth
- Motivate engineers and ensure high performance through constant feedback and identifying areas of improvement. Develop robust, effective plans addressing various technical and resource challenges within the organization.
- Lead organizational initiatives on improving workflow processes and resolving them with practical, lightweight, measurable process
- Maintain a groomed backlog, prioritize sprint stories, and lead sprint retrospectives
- Lead your teams in consistently delivering on a roadmap they collaboratively define
- Scale the team with a strong focus on experience, technical proficiency, and diversity
Hinge Health Hybrid Model
We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.
Qualificatons:
Basic Qualifications- 10+ years of non-internship full time professional experience in the technology industry, with a focus on SaaS products and large-scale, complex systems
- 3+ years of experience managing an engineering team of 4+ direct reports
- 3+ years of experience in mentoring and leading team members, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and contributing to project planning and decision-making
- 3+ years of experience resolving interpersonal conflicts and finding creative resourcing solutions where others would see zero-sum tradeoffs
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
- Experience with GTM, Segment, Iterable, or similar customer data/messaging/marketing platforms
- Backend experience with technologies such as: Nestjs, Apache Kafka, BullMQ, Garden.io
- Frontend experience with React, Gatsby, Node.js, Netlify, Contentful, AWS
- Experience building deep interactive experiences for Mobile Devices with React Native
- Expertise in low-latency, highly resilient client-server architecture, including graceful degradation of features in low- or no-bandwidth modes
- Expertise in React ecosystem, Node.js & Python
- Experience with Global deployments, translation workflows and international cookie/privacy policies
- Experience and/or knowledge of AI tooling and architectures
Compensation
This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.The annual salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000.
