Title: Anesthesiologist Assist
Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. In August 2023, the institute opened Florida’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer.
In March 2023, a new medical pavilion opened adjacent to the hospital and houses outpatient clinics, an imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Florida. Expertise, technology and services come together under one roof and cover the whole spectrum of care — from prevention and diagnostics to therapeutic and surgical treatment options to physical therapy, rehabilitation and performance health.The institute also holds official medical roles with multiple professional, college and high school athletic teams as well as well-known sporting events and venues.

The Anesthesiologist Assist Administers anesthesia and anesthesia related care under the direction of attending anesthesiologist in the operating room and satellite areas
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions- Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation.
- Performs pre-anesthetic assessment prior to each procedure as directed by attending anesthesiologist.
- Formulates a patient specific anesthetic plan of care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologist.
- Determines, prepares, and ensures necessary medications, equipment, and adjunct therapies for administration of
- Initiates plan of anesthesia care (general, regional, monitored anesthesia care) under the direction of attending
- Prepares and tests anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Inserts and/or uses invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of patient’s status under
- Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and management of airway; cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neuromuscular status;
- Supervises, instructs, and evaluates student anesthetists.
- Maintains legible, accurate and complete medical records for each anesthetic administered.
- Transfers responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post operatively. Ensures continuity of care and
- patient safety.
- Adheres to patient and personnel safety procedures (infection control, fire, safety electrical and chemical hazards).
- Perform post-anesthesia evaluations as directed by attending anesthesiologist.
- Demonstrates proficiency with maintenance of equipment and clean work areas. Reports necessary equipment repairs and
- adjustments via proper channels.
- Participates in interdisciplinary teams to enhanced patient safety and quality delivery of anesthesia care.
- Participates in the quality assessment processes developed by Orlando Health and the Anesthesiology Department.

Qualifications:
Education/TrainingGraduate of accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant Program.
Licensure/Certification
Meets all of the following:- Current license as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in the State of Florida
- Current certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA)
- Maintains current certification in Healthcare Provider/BLS, ACLS and PALS.
