About Our Client

Our client was founded over 30 years ago as a drywall contractor in Baltimore, MD. After years of gaining a reputation built around excellence and superior service, they expanded their company to include real estate development, general contracting, and construction management.
Their projects consist of apartment buildings, entertainment facilities, data centers, and more ranging from $5M to $100M+. They are currently looking to grow their team by bringing on an experienced Assistant Project Manager who has managed electrical scopes.

This person will start on a large-scale data center project in Northern VA.

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager - Electrical Construction - Data Centers will be responsible for:

  • Project Coordination: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical work on construction projects, ensuring that tasks are completed according to project timelines, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Electrical Scope Management: Oversee the electrical scope of work, including managing the electrical contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with project plans and safety requirements.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Monitor the project budget and costs associated with the electrical scope, helping to track expenditures and ensuring the project remains within budget. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and manage any changes or variances.
  • Schedule Management: Support the creation and maintenance of project schedules, working with electrical teams to ensure that all electrical work is completed according to the timeline. Track project milestones and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Quality Control & Safety Compliance: Ensure electrical installations comply with local and national electrical codes, standards, and project specifications. Assist with quality control checks and ensure all work meets the required standards.
  • Subcontractor and Vendor Liaison: Maintain effective communication with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to coordinate deliveries, services, and resources needed for electrical work. Assist with subcontractor performance reviews and issue resolutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, submittals, and daily reports. Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation for the electrical scope.
  • Field Support: Conduct site visits to assess electrical work progress, resolve issues, and provide on-site support to the construction and electrical teams. Ensure all electrical installations are completed in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Assist in identifying and resolving any issues that arise during the construction process, particularly those related to electrical work. Proactively identify potential challenges and assist in developing solutions.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Assist in communicating with clients, engineers, and stakeholders regarding the progress of electrical installations, addressing concerns, and providing updates.

The Successful Applicant

The Assistant Project Manager - Electrical Construction - Data Centers will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in construction project management or electrical construction projects is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, codes, and standards (NEC, OSHA, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar).
  • Knowledge of construction processes, electrical systems, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with other departments and contractors.
