About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented paralegal to join our intellectual property (IP) practice. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to manage all aspects of the IP lifecycle, including:

  • Patents: Assisting with patent applications, renewals, and maintenance procedures. Conducting patent searches and preparing prior art analyses.
  • Trademarks: Aiding with trademark clearance searches, preparing and filing trademark applications, and responding to trademark office actions.
  • Copyrights: Assisting with copyright registration, renewals, and infringement matters.
  • Trade Secrets: Drafting and maintaining trade secret protection measures.
  • Licensing Agreements: Helping draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements for intellectual property.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research related to intellectual property law.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including applications, responses, and agreements.
  • Manage electronic docketing and case management systems.
  • Organize and maintain client files electronically and physically.
  • Assist attorneys with client communication and correspondence.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks.
  • May attend client meetings and take detailed notes.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a paralegal role, preferably within the legal industry.
  • Proficiency in Intellectual Property law is vital.
  • Excellent research and report-writing skills.
  • Familiarity with legal databases and software for case management.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding and compliance with legal standards and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-stress situations and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Must possess strong ethical judgment and the ability to interpret laws.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and make decisive decisions.
