About Our Client
We are a fast-growing manufacturing company based in Chicago Heights, IL, seeking an experienced and highly motivated HR Generalist to join our team. As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in supporting our HR department and ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions across the company.We are looking for someone with a strong background in benefits administration, recruiting, workers' compensation, and FMLA leave management.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruiting: Manage the recruitment process from job posting to interview and hiring, ensuring the right talent is attracted to our manufacturing operations.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications for health, dental, vision, retirement plans, etc. Provide support to employees with benefits questions or issues.
- Workers' Compensation: Administer and track workers' compensation claims, coordinate with insurance providers, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- FMLA Leave Management: Administer and manage Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests and ensure proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and compliance issues.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Assist with audits and reporting related to HR functions.
- Training & Development: Assist with onboarding new employees and provide guidance on company policies, practices, and job expectations.
- General HR Support: Provide day-to-day HR support, including assisting in payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting the HR manager as needed.

The Successful Applicant
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR best practices, including recruiting, benefits administration, workers' compensation, and FMLA leave management.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and general office software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
