Robert Half is seeking a proactive and organized In-House Real Estate Paralegal to join the firm’s team on an immediate contract basis. In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between ownership, property management teams, and outside counsel.
Your primary responsibilities will be managing landlord-tenant matters and handling DHCR-related cases to ensure efficient legal processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly detail-oriented paralegal with experience in real estate law and regulatory compliance.
Location: Upper Manhattan, New YorkSchedule: On-site, 5 days per week
Hours: 8:30-5pm EST
Duration: Long-term (potential temp-to-hire)Pay: $40+/hour (negotiable based on experience!)
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact between ownership, property managers, and external legal counsel.
- Maintain and update accurate records of open landlord-tenant and DHCR case matters.
- Track progress on cases, compile regular case status reports, and provide ownership with timely updates.
- Collaborate with property management teams to gather supplemental documentation needed for legal proceedings.
- Monitor the performance of outside counsel and provide recommendations for improvements or changes when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with New York landlord-tenant laws and DHCR filing processes.
- Assist ownership in resolving complex landlord-tenant legal matters effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3–5 years of paralegal experience, with a strong focus on landlord-tenant law and DHCR matters.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Familiarity with New York rent regulation laws and DHCR filing procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and case management tools.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience with real estate firms, property management companies, or in-house legal departments is highly preferred.
- Must possess knowledge and experience in the Real Estate & Property industry.
- Proven experience as a Paralegal or similar role is essential.
- Proficiency in Aderant software.
- Expertise in Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS).
- Proficient in using Case Management Software.
- Experience with CompuLaw.
- Must be able to handle Billing Functions efficiently.
- Demonstrated skills in Briefing.
- Must possess excellent Calendar Management skills.
- Experience in Claim Administration is required.
- Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
