Responsibilities:

New opportunity for a Field Service Engineer with the Bruker BioSpin – EPR Service and Lifecycle Support Team based in Billerica, MA.
  • Install and support high technology equipment in research, pharmaceutical, university and government labs for Bruker BioSpin, a leading manufacturer of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and compact magnetic resonance (CMR) spectroscopy instruments and accessories.
  • The Field Service Engineer works with highly complex equipment that requires advanced understanding to perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair service activities.
  • Provide technical assistance on-site, VC, and telephone to support Customer system operating needs.
  • Perform on-site preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and installation of EPR Spectrometer systems and provide customer training.
  • Installations involve setting up instruments, verifying the system meets factory specifications by running a series of Instrument, Operational, Performance qualifications using calibrated standards.
  • Secure customer acceptance of install and repairs, ensure full functionality and proper site operation of customer EPR systems.
  • Familiarize and train customers for basic operation of the equipment; maintain accurate customer, repair, and inventory records in the department database system.
  • Serve as a supportive and effective communication link between the customer and company to ensure customer service satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Biotech, Biology or Chemistry discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electromechanical and/or electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of EPR, NMR, analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology, chromatography separation techniques, cryogenics, and ultra-high vacuum technology desirable.
  • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
  • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with Scientists that possess a Ph.D. (or Master’s Degree) in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Microbiology.
  • Strong verbal, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, networking, and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused work environment.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete position training requirements
  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly scientific technical training programs
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., transport equipment and tools in excess of 300 lbs.
  • This position requires lifting heavy objects and maneuvering large bulky items (examples: tools, mechanical pumps, rigging equipment, power supplies, field mapper).
  • This position requires reasonable dexterity to perform manual functions in confined spaces.
  • Proven ability to follow safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
  • Maintain a valid passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel.
  • May be required to pass security clearance investigation.
