Administrative Assistant Receptionist

Regular work schedule is Monday-Friday. This position will either work 7:45am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-5:00pm.
The rate of pay starts at $23 per hour.

Requirements
Essential Functions- Responds to citizen requests and complaints.
- Provides general information to the public regarding town services, The Town of Farragut, The City of Knoxville, and Knox County.
- Receives, screens and directs visitors to the location requested within Town Hall.
- Answers calls for all town staff and directs them to the correct staff member.
- Performs general secretarial and/or clerical duties including typing, filing, copying, sending and/or receiving facsimiles, ordering and/or maintaining office supplies including the copier.
- Manages mail and mailing supplies for the Town; receives and distributes mail to appropriate town staff; processes outgoing mail; maintains the postage meter.
- Conducts activities of a Tennessee Notary Public.
- Maintains town informational board.
- Acts as a back-up to other town hall administrative support staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of department programs and policies; general knowledge of standard computer software and hardware; general skill working with a multi-line phone system; some skill operating standard computer equipment and peripheral equipment; ability to manage time and work within time constraints; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in oral form; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, town staff, elected officials, and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience working in an administrative support role to include accounts payable and accounts receivable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and lifting and occasionally requires standing, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
