About Our Client

Our client for the General Manager North America opportunity is a manufacturer and supplier of specialty highly customized building materials used in commercial applications. This global company is globally headquartered in Europe with North America headquarters based in the Greater Detroit, MI area.

The General Manager North America will lead the North America region and will report to the Global Managing Director (CEO). The North American region is experiencing rapid growth in 2025 and the upcoming years doubling and tripling their revenue.

The General Manager North America will have a strong operations, supply chain, and business operations background and be tasked with driving the overall performance and coordination of the region. The General Manager will drive collaboration amongst the groups - sales, project management, accounting and finance, operations, global supply chain to ensure the region is working as a cohesive unit reporting back to the Global MD and Global Leadership team.

Job Description
  • Drive overall business performance, revenue growth, market expansion, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment with the objectives of overall group
  • Oversee key business functions within ensuring alignment with company objectives and long-term vision.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration and goal achievement.
  • Work with Global department leads to implement global processes and ensure adherence.
  • Drive communication with North American and European team to ensure project lead times are adhered to and customer expectations met.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams across departments - sales, operations, supply chain, project management, finance, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill sets to meet business demands.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to foster professional growth and team engagement.
  • Partner with the Head of Sales, North America, in driving all revenue growth opportunities.
  • Partner with the Head of Operations, North America, to ensure processes are optimized for efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with sales and customer service teams to enhance client experience and satisfaction.
  • Work with sales to identify opportunities for enhancements to the product range, feeding into business cases. Ensure successful launch of revised/new products to the North American team at the correct time.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Drive accuracy and best practice in data management to deliver consistent, accurate global view.
  • Lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between sales forecasts and operational capabilities.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and finance teams to develop accurate demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory plans.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to forecast accuracy, making data-driven recommendations to optimize performance and responsiveness.
  • Adopt and manage budgets for North American region.
  • Monitor financial performance, implement growth-focused initiatives, and support forecasting efforts.
  • Drive efficiency and resource optimization across business functions.
  • Drive innovation in products in support of the global NPD program, along with innovation in services, and customer experience
  • Oversee the adoption and integration of new technologies (including ERP) to enhance business capabilities.
  • Leverage data and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and quality standards.

The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or related
  • 15-20 years of experience within manufacturing, building materials (preferred), or related with bespoke manufacturing
  • 5 years of experience in Sr. Leadership role responsible for a P&L - Business Management, General Management, Business Unit Management or related
  • Background in operations, supply chain, business operations or related
  • Strong financial acumen in required
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and team members internal and external
  • Prior experience working for an international company is highly preferred
  • Business minded and strong teamwork
  • Strong communication skills, time management skills, and a customer focused mindset.
  • Strong leadership skills managing diverse teams
  • Strategic thinker and strong execution capabilities
  • Strong understanding and formal training in Lean, Six Sigma, Green or Black certifications preferred
  • Strong work ethic and high attention to detail
  • Works well under pressure and fast paced environments with ability to adapt
  • Ability to travel 25-35% domestically and globally

What's on Offer

Competitive base salary - $175,000 - $215,000 depending on experience, bonus, full benefits, 401K, vacation, holidays, working for a growing international company and reporting to the Global CEO.
