Access & Operations is responsible for the opening, closing, and security of our three buildings on the main campus. We perform general maintenance and some custodial services. We coordinate with campus entities and outside contractors, manage space projects, and provide support for library events.In addition, we are responsible for stacks management, reserves, printing services, equipment circulation, and the circulation desks. We facilitate access to the educational and research resources needed by our users through our Interlibrary Loan and Scanning services and provide multimedia expertise, services, and content at the Multimedia Resources Center (MRC).

Responsibilities:
Under supervision, the incumbents perform semi-skilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis in one or more of the trades in all library buildings. These duties include but are not limited to lifting and carrying heavy items, assembling and disassembling various office-related furnitures, general electrical and plumbing repair, painting and repair of interior walls, assisting in the mail room, executing minor facilities projects and moves, installing shelving, and other duties as assigned.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $24.47- $25.97 (Hourly).
Required:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Two years of experience in the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance work, or one year as a Building Maintenance Worker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other patrons of the Library.
- Works quietly, dependably, and in a responsible and timely manner.
- Experience following oral and written instructions, and instructions conveyed online work order system.
- Ability to recognize and respond positively to areas in need of corrective action.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds (i.e. desks, tables, bookcases, trash receptacles, boxes, crates, etc.).
- Ability to climb and work from a ladder, at heights of up to twenty feet.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively oversee student workers who perform a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing surfaces for painting materials.
- Demonstrated experience in performing minor interior carpentry projects.
- Demonstrated experience in repairing and replacing electrical components.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, setting and maintaining priorities without close supervision
- Two years of experience in the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance work, or one year as a Building Maintenance Worker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Conditions:
- Valid California Driver's License. Clean California DMV record. A DOT will be pulled.
