Job Overview:
A Manufacturing Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery, and processes in a manufacturing environment. This role involves working closely with other engineers, maintenance technicians, and production staff to ensure that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Design and develop control systems and software for manufacturing processes.
Create detailed schematics and control diagrams for equipment and processes.
Develop and implement PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs and HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications.
Installation and Commissioning:
Oversee the installation and commissioning of control systems and equipment.
Ensure that all control systems are correctly integrated into the manufacturing process.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform regular maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with control systems and implement corrective actions.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and develop long-term solutions.
Process Optimization:
Analyze manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
Implement control strategies to enhance process efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
Collaborate with production staff to optimize manufacturing workflows.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain detailed documentation of control systems, including wiring diagrams, software code, and maintenance logs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including safety and quality requirements.
