IT Specialist
Overview:
One of our fantastic nonprofit clients has an immediate direct hire, full time opportunity for an IT Specialist to cover all computing/network and related IT support across all departments and research groups. Qualified candidates must possess a broad IT-related background to handle everything from help desk issues to network infrastructure design and implementation.More broadly, the ideal candidate will have proven problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate with a broad array of people. This position requires someone who is self-directed, self-motivated, who can successfully meet all of the IT needs of the organization with little oversight or supervision.
This position is 100% onsite, full-time, M-F, 8-5PM EST. The offering pay starts at $70,000 annually and will offer 2 weeks of PTO per year and a 401K with a company match!
Responsibilities:
The IT Specialist will provide all manner of computing/network and IT-related support to the entire organization. This individual will work in the Information Services group; which provides data analysis/management and information technology support to the other groups within the organization including five aquatic ecology Research groups, Watershed Restoration, Education and Administration.
Responsibilities include:
- Familiarity with the Apple OS, Windows 7-11, Office 2016-2021 (Mac and PC) Windows Server 2019-2022 and Hyper-V
- Maintaining one physical and one virtual domain controller.
- Running/maintaining/upgrading the file backup system.
- Manage/troubleshoot multiple wireless network including SSL certificate renewal.
- Oversee the VoIP phone system
- Maintain/manage computer security which includes network domain security, a SonicWall firewall, and Trend Micro Apex-One anti-virus software.
- Purchase, setup, and maintain computers –PCs and MACs.
- Perform various hardware upgrades/repairs e.g. install memory, hard drive, keyboard, lcd screen and battery replacements.
- Manage Microsoft software licenses and updates from server.
- Manage a growing cloud computing presence; primarily Google Workspace with the potential of an ever increasing role for Amazon Web Services
- Troubleshoot software-related issues from routine user questions to maintaining/upgrading the Grant Management Software (GMS) database utilized by our accounting department
- Oversee or handle any number of miscellaneous IT tasks such as maintain/upgrade/instruct users on printers (including a large scale plotter); VPN access; wireless access, audio-visual troubleshooting, etc.
Min: USD $70,000.00/Yr.
Max: USD $80,000.00/Yr.
Qualifications:
Qualifying candidates will have a mix of education and experience. A BS in computer science, data science or tangential computer/data science classroom work or experience as part of a BS/BA in some unrelated subject matter is desirable but not required.Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of IT experience. Having data analysis/management experience in any of the following will be considered a plus: familiarity with SAS, R, Python, SQL (any database programming), or GIS. Above all else, the successful candidate will have proven problem-solving abilities and the related ability of working with a broad array of people from administrators to scientists to board members to collaborating partners of the organization.
