Our team creates the UI framework that runs on all Alexa-enabled devices with screens, Alexa Presentation Language. APL includes a portable rendering engine, tools, content, and responsive templates that developers and device makers can use to author and render multi-modal experiences.

Our software powers those experiences on our Echo family of devices, Fire Tablets, Amazon Fire TV, and many more. Our Alexa Skills Kit developer tools and Alexa Presentation Language APIs allow anyone to write applications for our devices. Key job responsibilities
  • Bring innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing our customer objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics.
  • Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; building a strong cross-functional organization.
  • Create, prioritize, communicate, maintain, and execute roadmaps, project plans, and commitments.
  • Manage the overall software development life-cycle.
  • Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical designs and approaches.
  • Collaborate with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes.
  • Have the obsession to drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at Amazon.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
