Job Description:

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Global Logistics Intern will provide comprehensive support to the Global Logistics department comprised of Shipping, Receiving, Distribution Services, Helix Operations, Customer Service, Trade Compliance & Dangerous Goods, Continuous Improvement, Sustainability, and Logistics Branches worldwide.

This role is designed to offer hands-on experience in various aspects of operations, project support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will engage in a broad range of activities, including administrative tasks, project management, and data analysis, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of global logistics functions.

CORE DUTIES:

  1. Administrative and Operational Support:
  1. Assist with general administrative tasks across Global Logistics, including document management, (review, consolidation, purging, and migration of existing documents from one platform to another, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility), and coordination of logistics-related activities.
  2. Support the organization and execution of Logistics Summer Activities and business reviews, ensuring all logistics and details are managed efficiently.
  1. Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
  1. Participate in the ongoing implementation of improvement projects within the logistics department, including lean methodologies and Kaizen-related activities.
  2. Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and work with teams to implement solutions.
  1. Global Logistics Operations Support:
  1. Assist in tracking and analyzing logistics data to improve operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
  2. Support in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, contributing to data-driven decision-making processes.
  1. Project and Event Coordination:
  1. Participate in cross-functional logistics projects, providing support in planning, execution, and monitoring of project deliverables.
  2. Assist in the planning and execution of large-scale meetings and events, ensuring all logistical aspects are handled smoothly.
  1. Document and Record Management:
  1. Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate and organized records related to logistics operations, including reports, and other essential documents

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  3. Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP is a plus.
  4. Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  5. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  7. Ability to present data and findings clearly and concisely.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience working with logistics or in a warehouse setting.
  2. Prior experience with continuous improvement projects or methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
  2. Manual dexterity and sensory faculties to read and key in handwritten and printed data for extended periods.
  3. Ability to move objects up to 30 pounds and perform tasks requiring physical mobility.
