Job Description
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for rail yard projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bids that align with the company's financial goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and insights necessary for accurate estimating.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on material costs, labor rates, and market trends to inform pricing strategies and stay competitive.
  • Scope Analysis: Evaluate project scopes and specifications to identify potential challenges or areas for cost savings.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, bid submissions, and related correspondence for reference and auditing purposes.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and provide updates on estimates, ensuring alignment with their expectations.
  • Review and Revise: Assess and revise estimates based on project changes or new information, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed

The Successful Applicant
  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: At least 1 year of estimating experience
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex project plans and specifications to produce accurate cost estimates.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in reviewing documents and calculations to ensure precision in estimates and bids.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and labor costs, particularly in rail yard projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Capable of identifying challenges and proposing practical solutions during the estimating process.
  • Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively in a family-oriented environment, fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple estimates and deadlines efficiently.
