What You’ll Do:As an Assistant Store Director at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and Inspire: Model and uphold our Festival Foods culture, helping to develop our team of associates through practicing servant leadership.
- Take the Lead: Step in as the acting Store Director when needed and make independent decisions as business conditions change.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with our Buying, Accounting, and Personnel teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Train and Coach: Mentor leaders and associates on best practices, policies, and procedures to maintain excellence.
- Front-End Support: Ensure exceptional customer service and efficient cashier operations while maintaining cash control standards.
- Budget and Labor Management: Oversee budget, labor projections, and adjust as needed to support store success.
- Safety First: Lead our safety committee and ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Support Superior Customer Service: Actively promote and execute exceptional guest service, ensuring an outstanding experience for every guest and living out our boomerang principle to keep our guests coming back.
- Loss Prevention (Asset Protection): Ensure all loss prevention policies and procedures are consistently followed to protect company assets and minimize risks.
- Inventory Management: Accurately manage inventory to minimize shrink and achieve acceptable unallocated figures, keeping the store running smoothly and efficiently.
- Merchandising Excellence: Oversee the setup and maintenance of all displays, including specialty department floor displays, ensuring they are visually appealing and drive sales.
- Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
- Support the Team: Other duties as assigned.

To succeed as a Festival Foods Assistant Store Director, you should have:
- Leadership Committment: Interest in advancing to a Store Director role with Festival Foods.
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven Leadership: At least 5 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a key leadership position.
- Department Management Experience: Previous experience managing a department, ideally in a grocery or retail environment, is preferred.
- Retail Expertise: Strong knowledge of the retail food industry, particularly perishable department operations, with a talent for merchandising and making timely, effective decisions.
- Customer-Focused: Skilled in interacting tactfully and effectively with both customers and team members.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills, with a solid understanding of operational systems and bookkeeping procedures.
- Strong Communication Skills: Capable of clear and concise oral and written communication, even when managing a diverse team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Safety Awareness: Thorough knowledge of safety standards and the ability to recognize and address safety hazards on the premises.
- Equipment Proficiency: Experienced with the safe use of essential equipment such as hand jacks, balers, forklifts, cutters, and more, with proper training on safe lifting and scanning techniques, etc..
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

- The employee must possess the ability to stand in place for long periods of time; walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly. Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment.
- This position requires the employee have the ability to have full range of upper body motion in order to occasionally lift stock. Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
- Must possess functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment.
- Working conditions consist primarily of a temperature-controlled environment. The ability to work outside checking store property, in walk-in coolers or freezers for short periods of time is necessary.
- This job involves exposure to changing temperature and humidity (i.e. freezers, coolers and warehouse). Chemical cleaning agents, irritating or competing noises or other irritating substances, and working in areas with wet and slippery floors.
Work Schedule:
The Assistant Store Director is a full-time, salaried position. The most common shift will be 7 AM to 5 PM, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work one mid-shift and/or one closing shift each week is required.
