Fabricator Ii
Under close supervision, the Fabricator II will operate shears, punch press, notchers, saws, and bending equipment to cut and shape structural steel and glastic.
Compensation:$23 - $26 hourlyResponsibilities:
- Moves and prepares structural steel for work
- Measures surfaces to determine the proper length, width, and thickness required for the job
- Operates shear as required for parts and fabrication
- Operates punch press to measure and cut square, circular, and other shaped holes
- May operator grinders and cutting torches
- Fabricates glastic barriers using appropriate tools and equipment
- Moves material into the proper position
- Cleans and maintains work area
Qualifications:Required Skills/Abilities:
- Technical skills: Ability to read and understand blueprints, use metal fabrication equipment, and have the proper certifications
- Manual dexterity: Fabricators need to be able to use hand tools and assemble components with precision
- Physical stamina: Fabricators need to be able to stand for long periods and carry heavy objects
- Attention to detail: Fabricators need to be detail-oriented to make precise measurements and cuts, and to minimize material waste
- Safety knowledge: Fabricators need to understand safety regulations and procedures to work safely with heavy machinery and hand tools
- Communication skills: Fabricators need to be able to communicate with their team when working on large projects
- Problem-solving skills: Fabricators need to be able to solve problems and troubleshoot defects
- Organization: Fabricators need to be organized to meet deadlines and stay on schedule
- Design knowledge: Fabricators need to understand design principles to align metal pieces properly
- Engineering knowledge: Fabricators can use engineering principles to determine how to place objects together and complete tasks more efficiently
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Physical stamina: The ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physically demanding tasks
- Able to lift/move/pull/push 25+ lbs.
- Manual dexterity: The ability to handle materials, operate tools, and work with precision
- Strength: The physical strength to lift heavy machinery, tools, and components
- Balance: The ability to balance and push/pull heavy equipment
- Range of motion: The ability to bend at the waist, kneel, crawl, crouch, and stoop
- Coordination: The ability to coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs
- Vision: The ability to see colors, since wires are often color-coded
- Hearing: The ability to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
