ELECTRIC MOTOR WINDER – Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairman**

**JOB SUMMARY**
The Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairman (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) is a training position to develop the knowledge and skills a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman will need to perform their job safely and competently. This position is located at the Repair Shop facility in Forest Park, GA.However, on occasion, you will be expected to travel to other work locations to repair equipment on-site.
An Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairman (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) will work alongside a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman at the Repair Shop to develop and complete tasks associated with the Journeyman Development program to repair and recondition motors and generators.Duties include but are not limited to: disassemble, clean and inspect, rewind, balance of rotating assemblies, assemble, and paint. Related activities include the general usage of hand tools along with operating equipment such as mobile and overhead cranes, forklifts, steam cleaner, paint sprayer, pneumatic tools, ovens, end- turn cut-off saw, VPI tank, and balance machines.
Candidates must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule (shift work) including holidays, weekends, and overtime when necessary. Must be willing to work various shifts, generally day or evening shifts. Subject to callout overtime situations.
Work environment may include working in adverse conditions such as poor weather and hot/cold temperatures, at elevated heights, or in compartments with restricted space.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
**Education**
**Required:**
+ High School diploma or equivalent required.
+ To be considered for an interview, candidates must qualify on both of the following: Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST) and the Skills, Knowledge, and Aptitude Test (SKAT) - Electrical.
+ Successful candidates must pass the Post Offer Employee Test (POET)
**Preferred:**
+ Two-year technical degree or certificate in Electrical / Electronic Technology and/or related experience in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance.
+ Electric Motor Winder experience.
+ Military experience as Electrical or Mechanical Technician.
**Experience Requirements:**
+ This is an entry level position with experience in Industrial Electric Motor Winding or Mechanical Maintenance.
+ Candidate must have strong safety awareness and adherence to safety practices.
**Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Good hand and eye coordination.
+ Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures, rules, and regulations.
+ Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
+ Ability to use precision measuring tools.
+ Ability to be on feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
+ Basic understanding of wiring diagrams, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
+ Basic knowledge of motor theory.
**Behavioral Aspects:**
+ Candidate must be willing to maintain regular attendance.
+ The candidate must be available to work outside normal operating hours which could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Candidate must be able to work various shifts, primarily day and evening shifts.
+ Must be available to respond to any emergency callout.
+ The candidate must be a team player, customer oriented, trainable, and willing to develop their career.
+ Must understand the value of customer service and support.
+ Work outside basic job functions as needed to support the business.
**Other Requirements:**
+ This is an IBEW covered position.
+ Valid driver's license is required.
+ Candidates must be willing to work outside in all climate conditions and work at heights requiring the use of fall-protection (greater than 4ft.)
+ Work in tight or congested areas and in abnormal positions.
+ Must successfully qualify on the Post Offer Employee Test (POET) by demonstrating ability to complete certain physical tasks.
This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
+ Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
+ Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
+ Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
**TRAINING**
Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairmen (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) will undergo an extensive training program through the Repair Shop Journeyman Development Program, which includes on-the-job training with classroom training. The training program lasts 3 1/2 years. Upon successful completion of the Repair Shop Journeyman Development Program the employee will be promoted to a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman position through automatic progression.
**Pay**
The starting salary will be based upon the conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement Wage Schedule between Georgia Power and IBEW Local Union Number 84. Starting pay will be $6218 per month; $35.87 per hour. **This is non-negotiable.**
