Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do:
As an Addiction Counselor, you’ll be at the heart of our patient care team, providing in-person support and therapy in a state-of-the-art facility. This role will have you actively engaging with patients, guiding them through their recovery journey, and providing life-changing counseling. Some of the exciting responsibilities include:
- Facilitating group therapy sessions in our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)—helping patients build connections and gain valuable recovery tools.
- Building meaningful, collaborative relationships with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that evolve with their needs.
- Leading addiction and recovery education sessions that empower patients to understand and manage their recovery.
- Partnering with other providers and support teams to ensure comprehensive care for each patient.
- Keeping up with your clinical documentation (don’t worry, we’ll make sure you have the support you need to thrive).
- Providing direct care, including case management, assessments, and discharge planning.
- Bringing your positive energy to every session—whether you're leading a group or working one-on-one with patients.

Qualifications:
Who We’re Looking For:
We want someone who is committed to patient care and ready to make a real difference. If you have the following, we’d love to hear from you:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
- A passion for in-person, face-to-face care and building strong relationships with patients.
- 2+ years of experience in the addiction field (experience with group treatment is a plus).
- Expertise in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care approaches.
- A flexible, creative team player who thrives in a growing, evolving program.
- Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills to effectively communicate with both patients and your team.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and share your knowledge with others.
Your Schedule: Balance and Flexibility!
At Kolmac, we understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we’ve designed a schedule that allows you to provide excellent care while still having time to enjoy life outside of work. This role is Monday through Friday, 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM—so you’ll have your mornings free to recharge, take care of personal matters, or enjoy all Washington DC has to offer.
This schedule ensures that you’ll be able to focus on providing high-quality, in-person care while still maintaining a healthy balance between your professional and personal life.
No weekend work required!
Licensing Requirements:
To join us, you’ll need to have one of the following:
- CAC-I in DC
- CAC-II, LGPC, LGSW, LPC, LCSW in DC
