POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Services Supervisor is a valuable member of Elizabeth Seton Children’s leadership team. The Supervisor is primarily responsible for ensuring that sanitary and safe conditions exist for residents, staff and visitors. The Supervisor reports to the Director of Environmental Services, and assists in assuring the department staff operates in compliance with Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center policies, procedures, and State and Federal codes pertaining to long term care homes.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. These include, but are not limited to: use, cleaning and care of equipment; selection, measurement and proper use of housekeeping and cleaning supplies; maintenance of cleaning schedules; techniques for the evaluation of cleaning effectiveness; liaison with the Infection Control Committee to determine appropriate action based on the results of any evaluation performed.
  • Develop and maintain accurate purchase requisitions records against the supply/storeroom budget for all items used by both Housekeeping and Laundry departments. Process all invoices, maintains related record and submits monthly reports.
  • Perform area and room inspections, document findings and make appropriate corrections to deficiencies.
  • Manage, organize and maintain an inventory of all linens for use on Neighborhoods in keeping with facility requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and testing protocols to at the least the minimum standards for which the authority having jurisdiction requires. This would include NY and Westchester DOH, Yonkers Building Department, NY State Code, OSHA, EPA and others that are applicable.
  • Primary supervision of all daily activities of Housekeeping and Laundry Departments staff. Ensure staff are performing assigned tasks in accordance with proper maintenance and code standards; department policies and procedures, in accordance with administrative policies of ESCC and in line with New York State Department of Health code or regulatory requirements as well as local ordinance.
  • Assist with selecting, training, scheduling of all assigned staff in accordance with policies of ESC.
  • Develop and provide regular training sessions for staff.
  • Develop weekly staff schedule and fairly manage time off requests.
  • Intervene to resolve conflicts among the EVS staff and keeps Director informed and/or escalate as needed.
  • Follow guidelines for progressive discipline of staff not adhering to Policies & Procedures, Mandatory training, sanitation and hygiene rules and employs disciplinary process where needed. Provide input to probationary and annual performance evaluations.
  • Establish effective communication with staff to keep them up to date with scheduling, special projects, residential needs and issues arising on neighborhoods related to Housekeeping and Laundry services.
  • Meet weekly with Director, Environmental Services & Security to discuss departmental business.
  • Provide vacation and temporary relief as required.
  • On occasion, will represent Director at committee meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Director and/ or Vice President Administration.
  • Schedule: 11:00am-7:00pm, and rotate every other weekend from 7:00am – 3:00pm.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication, reading, and writing skills needed.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience in environmental services in a health related facility with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.

Salary Range:

$80,000/Yr. - $90,000/Yr.
