Position Description
The Field Engineer Supervisor at PrePass leads a team of Field Engineers to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of PrePass technologies. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership and project management skills to oversee roadway construction and electronic systems projects.As a supervisor, you will guide team members, coordinate with construction crews, and collaborate with state roadway engineers while maintaining oversight of troubleshooting, system design, and project compliance. You will manage multiple vendors, customers, and internal teams while ensuring projects meet safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and support Field Engineers in executing projects, providing guidance, and fostering professional growth. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct regular evaluations.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects. Coordinate with roadway contractors, state permitting offices, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Technical Expertise: Provide advanced troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network operating problems. Leverage specialized test equipment and tools to resolve complex technical issues.
- System Design and Review: Utilize C.A.D. and technical manuals to guide system layouts and ensure designs meet functional requirements. Evaluate opportunities for performance improvements and cost savings.
- Compliance and Permitting: Ensure projects adhere to safety and compliance standards, including obtaining necessary permits and contracts. Work with subcontractors to secure insurance certificates and other required documentation.
- Vendor and Customer Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and customers, ensuring their needs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records, technical schematics, and diagrams. Ensure accurate reporting of team activities and project progress.
- Travel and Field Work: Lead on-site activities and supervise field operations. Travel domestically up to 50% of the time to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
Required- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in roadway construction, field engineering, or project management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Basic knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (M.U.T.C.D.).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in C.A.D. and technical system design.
- Commitment to quality, personal ethics, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
- Experience in construction management or highway construction management.
- Knowledge of Weigh in Motion Scale systems.
- Background in electrical engineering or related disciplines.
Working Conditions
The Field Engineer Supervisor frequently works in outdoor environments, which may involve considerable bending, stooping, crawling, and lifting (40–60 lbs.). The role requires regular use of testing and diagnostic equipment in a high-pressure, customer-focused team environment.Domestic travel of up to 50% is required to support projects and resolve field issues.
