Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Perinatal Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the design and implementation of education programs and professional development of nurses in their assigned nursing service, focusing on clinical outcomes and practice development. Will work closely with department managers and the Nursing Quality, Research and Education Team, Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) on the educational needs assessment and orientation programs for staff, in the assigned nursing division.

Ensures that competencies and skills are current and relevant for the nursing staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements
  • Experience in adult education
  • Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills with the ability to lead effectively
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent Perinatal nursing experience in an acute care setting
  • Master of Science in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Instructor
  • Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Nursing Education
  • Experience in Quality Improvement activities
  • ANCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this patient population, (general certifications such as WCC will not be acceptable for meeting this requirement)

Licenses and Certifications:

  • RN
  • NRP
  • BLS
