Robert Half is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Unlawful Detainer Attorney to join our client in Orange County. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in handling unlawful detainer matters, possess excellent legal writing skills, and be proficient in California-specific landlord-tenant laws.

The successful candidate will be responsible for various aspects of unlawful detainer litigation, including but not limited to preparing legal documents, representing clients in court, and drafting motions and oppositions.

Key Responsibilities:

Unlawful Detainer Litigation: Handle all aspects of unlawful detainer actions, from initial filing to trial, including drafting complaints, motions, oppositions, and other litigation documents.

Motion Practice: Draft and file opposition to motions to quash, motions for summary judgment (MSJ), demurrers, and motions to set aside defaults.
Ex Parte Applications: Prepare and submit ex parte notices and related filings for immediate relief.
Discovery: Prepare and propound discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
Tenant Communication: Draft letters to tenants regarding behavior, non-payment of rent, and other lease violations.
Trial Preparation: Draft jury instructions and other trial documents for unlawful detainer cases.

Court Representation: Represent clients in unlawful detainer hearings, trials, and settlement conferences, advocating for their interests in court.

Case Management: Effectively manage case files, ensuring timely completion of tasks, compliance with court deadlines, and proper documentation of case progress.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice law
  • Proficiency in using 3M and Adobe Acrobat software
  • Experience with Case Management Software and Conveyancer
  • Expertise in Document Management
  • Ability to conduct effective Briefing sessions
  • Experience in Civil Litigation
  • Familiarity with Claim Administration processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity and detail oriented ethics
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
