Overview:

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Field Engineer to be based in Southern California. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Southwest Division

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under direct supervision, performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles.
  • Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work.
  • Performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments.
  • Spends large percentage of time performing estimating take-offs and performing walk-downs for quantity tracking purposes, reporting of installed quantities, performing field inspections to verify adherence to design.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience in engineering or construction industry
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

Additional Information:

The salary range for this position is between $78,000.00 to $88,00.00 per year depending on experience and/or education.
