Overview:
This internship is designed to provide a deep dive on accounting and finance’s role within a publicly traded organization while providing an opportunity to contribute value-added work. The Accounting and Finance Intern is responsible for executing updates to monthly reporting processes, updating forecasts and analytics, performing analysis to support decisions, identifying key drivers of financial performance, and aiming to improve or add value to current processes within the team.
Opportunities to learn across a variety of disciplines within accounting and finance will be available focusing on financial statement analysis and forecasting principals. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of Xeris’ commercial and development businesses.The intern will be exposed to accounting and finance interactions as well as cross-functional collaboration to gain perspective on how the department supports decisions within a company.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Accounting team and Accounts Payable team to support in weekly or monthly tasks following controls and standard operating procedures
- Update and create financial reporting focusing on automated processes for continued use
- Analyze month-end results and summarize values and explanations for significant variances compared to historical actuals and forecast expectations
- Contribute to monthly reporting package updates provided to department leadership
- Partner with commercial functions to analyze spend and manage expenses to Budget
- Support financial forecast and prioritization processes
- Ad-hoc accounting and finance projects
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel
- Ability to make logical and sound decisions and to know when to act independently and when to seek assistance

- Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary, to fulfill obligations.
- This role is based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires five days per week in the office. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.
