Assistant Project Manager - San Diego
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Project Manager in overseeing capital improvement projects for educational institutions. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a passion for contributing to the development of educational facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to manage deliverables at all levels of the business structure, from entry-level to executive-level management.
- Exemplary analytical cost management/cost control expertise, including financial modeling and utilization of costing tools; SAP, Excel, and MS Office.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and reports.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Facilitate communication between project team members and stakeholders.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and services, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing presentations and reports for clients and senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to interact effectively as a member of a project team.
- Computer skills, primarily Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, preferably in the education sector.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and project management principles.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- PMP or CAPM certification is a plus.
Salary range $110,000 to $125,000
