JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager of Development will play a pivotal role in INCLUDEnyc’s Development Department during a time of tremendous growth for the organization. As part of a team with more than 25 years of collective experience in fundraising and external relations, the Manager of Development will have management responsibility, along with the opportunity to cultivate donor relationships, build special event execution skills, gain strategic planning expertise, and develop other valuable tools used in philanthropy.The Manager’s work will help promote inclusion, offer crucial assistance to families, and have a powerful impact on the lives of young people with disabilities across New York City.
The Manager of Development reports directly to the Senior Director of Development, and supervises the Development Coordinator. This is a broad-based role that contributes to the strategy and execution of the organization’s fundraising initiatives, including institutional giving (foundation and corporate), individual giving, and special events.They should have knowledge of the New York City fundraising community and experience executing multifaceted fundraising projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising Strategy, Research, and Execution- Contribute to departmental fundraising strategy in support of $4.8M budget.
- Write donor appeals, grant proposals and reports, and fundraising communications.
- Research and evaluate potential sources of support among individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Collaborate with team members and Board of Directors to create and execute stewardship plans for current and former donors.
- Point person for departmental management, supervising Development Coordinator, interns, and volunteers.
- Oversee Junior Board to leverage engagement and financial support.
- Ensure adherence to grant cycles, funding calendar, and reporting deadlines.
- Liaise with staff across the organization to develop funding requests and reports.
- Execute annual fundraising appeals with special emphasis on building donor base.
- Manage logistics for annual fundraising special event.
- Coordinate with Finance and Program departments to ensure grant compliance and grant deliverables are met.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinker; Ability to collect and use data to inform decision making
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong project management and multitasking skills
- Collaborative spirit; Ability to work across organizational functions to ensure outcomes
- Ability to identify solutions to unanticipated roadblocks and remain flexible
- Entrepreneurial and independent worker; ability to command the respect of peers
- Demonstrated commitment to INCLUDEnyc’s mission of building positive outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities
- Knowledge and experience using Salesforce strongly preferred.
