Job Summary

The Director of Technical Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading the Technical Services department, focusing on strategic

growth, operational efficiency, and employee development. This role is responsible for managing the department's Profit & Loss (P&L), developing and executing a growth strategy, and ensuring the safety and compliance of all operations. The Director will also spearhead robust

succession planning and career development initiatives for HVAC technicians, oversee the internal sales and estimating processes, and ensure

the effective utilization of inventory management systems and platforms.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Work with business development team to strategize and secure new business, expand existing accounts, and negotiate
contracts using market insights and internal resources; additionally, engage with departmental leaders regarding support
and market of technical services offered to increase departmental revenue
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive service excellence system that measures and creates metrics around
standardization and quality
  • Create and manage budgets for technical services to achieve net operating profit (including direct cost, reforecasting,
operating expenditures, etc.); Additionally, develop and present strategic business plan and data analytics
  • Analyze data within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to review estimates and job costing
information; analyze and evaluate the data, adjusting costs to market value annually as deemed appropriate
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers; address and resolve any issues related to service performance
and budget adherence
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality HVAC services, maintenance, and risk management services. Assess departmental
processes and procedures to determine best practices and standards
  • Create strategic plan to attract, retain, mentor and develop talent with a goal to make Continuum the employer of choice
in the technical services marketplace, including development of professional training and succession planning
  • Engage in employee relations by way of resolving conflict between team members, conducting employee investigations,
issuing corrective actions based on findings in a fair and constructive manner
  • Oversee the performance management process by collaborating with team members to establish departmental and
organizational goals, monitor and evaluate progress and performance, conduct performance reviews, provide regular
feedback, and address performance issues or concerns as needed
  • Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and engagement among team members in a positive and inclusive work

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, including building codes, OSHA standards, and environmental
regulations; implement risk management strategies to mitigate operational risks
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures for continual improvements and efficiency within the department
  • Additional projects and team support as needed
Education, Experience and Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field and five (5) years commercial HVAC
experience; or Minimum ten (10) years commercial HVAC experience; Mechanical contractor’s license preferred
  • Proven knowledge of governmental and industry code, regulations and standards such as OSHA, BOCA, ASME, etc.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and apply sound business judgement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office365 products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Able to maintain confidential information
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds at times
Travel Requirements
  • Travel as required
  • Valid driver’s license require
